I'm a list maker.
I like lists.
I like to be organized and lists help me with that.
I am constantly making to-do lists just to keep myself on track.
Most of the time, they keep me pretty focus and on task. With that being said, our house seriously needs some "focus" and we need to get our rears "on task" when it comes to it. We stay so stinking busy that sometimes it is hard to prioritize things and thats just no good. Enough excuses! And not to mention, this blog started as we bought our house and the things surrounding getting it ready so that we would remember this time in our lives. Well, we are bringing it back to that!
Below is a list of ALL the things that I see/want for our house. I know that Rome wasn't built in a day and I get that this list might take us years, but that is ok! We have plenty of time to get things in order.
My plan is to keep everything really updated as we knock out things on this list. I'm sure things will be added as we go but I will definitely be marking things off as we go! We even were able to knock a few off this weekend! And honesly, making this list and putting it on the blog is going to be some serious accountablilty too! Writing it on a piece of paper and throwing it in my planner or purse is a waste of time.
Here we go...
Den:
- Buy curtain rod and curtains
- Find a entry way table that can double as a storage unit
- Organize coat closet (Bottom)
Move the couch and love seat- Hang pictures or more artwork
- Make or buy a cute wreath or doorhanger for the front door
- Sand and refinish rocking chair
- Reupholstry rocking chair
- Replace closet door
- Paint front door. (Already have the paint!)
Living Room:
- Get curtains or make curtainsor buy material to make curtains. I love these, not in orange and tan, but I LOVE the stripes!
- Hang pictures-- I have this one in a 20x30 that needs to be framed and hung above the sectional.
Possibly move China cabinet back into the denMove end table by the couch- Get lamp to go on end table
- Make pillows to go on the sectional- I love all of the different patterns and color. Our couch is brown so I want some bright colors!
- Get a runner to go between the back of the sectional and utility room (The last one got bleach poured all over it by mistake.)
- Get a cute roman shade type thing to cover the side door window. At the moment, it is covered with newspaper. How awful is that!? Ah!
Kitchen:
Put together the kitchen table... that we got for Christmas! (Yes, we are awful!)- Hang up blinds over the sink
- Paint the trim over the sink
- Get new countertops
- Get new sink to go with our new countertops
- Organize the pantry (the bottom of the pantry)
- Organize the cabinets
- Build a shelf for the microwave to sit on
- Get new lighting fixtures
- Get new trim for the bottom of the cabinets
- Find another microwave that is a bit smaller than what we have now
- Organize under the sink
- Gather up all cleaning products around the house and put them all under sink
Utility Room:
- Organize, organize, organize!
- Find an alternative shelf for the one to the right of the washer
- Clean up the shelves on the left
- Put paint and paint supplies in the shed outside
- Hang up the blinds over the washer/dryer
- Find a neutral roman shade to go in the window
- Fix the folding doors- might require getting new ones
- Find a way to hang or hook all of the mops, brooms, Swifter things on the wall to the right
Master Bedroom:
Find storage bins to put under our bed for our sheets and extra blankets and my purses/bags- Hang up some wedding pictures or something!-- I have this one (or one just like it) in a 20x30 that needs to be framed and huge up above our bed.
- Find knobs to go on my closet door
- Find storage containers to use at the top of my closet for all my junk(i.e. basket for scarfs, basket for bathing suits, etc
- Clean out end tables and organize them
Bathroom:
- Paint the walls an off white or cream color
- Take off the closet door
- Paint the inside of the closet with KILZ
- Organize the closet
- Organize under the sink
- Hang curtain rod and pretty curtain where the door was. Like this one but obviously for the bathroom.
- Paint the trim in the windowsil and around where the bathroom closet is
- Find curtain/roman shade for the bathroom window
- Replace the knobs in the shower to something more modern
Guest Bedroom:
- Hang up the group wedding picture above the bed
- Find a place for the other table top
- Take the scarfs into Master (Storage places above the closet)
- Organize Jade's closet
- Put the suitcases that are in the closet under a bed
- Find the comforter and put it back on the bed (Mom took it to the cleaners and I'm not sure if she picked it up or they have it or I have it, who knows!)
Office:
- Organize, Organize, Organize!
- Sell the antique green chair- let me know if you like! I'm ready to get it gone! Come to my house right now and get it! :)
- Make sure it is ok to sell the old rocker- gotta ask my Pawpaw about this one. He might want it!
- Sort through the bookshelf and sell the books that are not wanted/needed
Empty the trunk, which at the moment is full of sheets and blankets-- put all the sheets that correspond with the beds in storage containers under the bed. So like put everything that goes with our bed, the queen, all in one place and same for the guest.- Put all pictures, photo albums, etc., in the trunk
- Sell/get rid of the HUGE desk
- Get a new/smaller desk... from the Bucksville Mercantile! It is white and has some chalkboard panels... it is ADORABLE!
- Find a little table to double as storage and a printer stand
- Clean out the closet
- Hang up pictures
- Get curtains for both windows
- Get a TV to hang on the wall to the left as you walk in (Jade, don't freak out! I want a TV in there so I can work on my pictures and watch my shows at the same time. Love you!)
- Get a baby gate to block this room off so the wild women (Polly and Pearl) will not go in there and use the bathroom. I know, way TMI but it's the truth. If they are going to have accidents, it is in there.
Outside
Front Yard:
- Plant shrubs all along the front of the house
- Put mulch around the shrubs
- Cut down the tree that is struggling and is just plain ugly
- Spray weedkiller all over the driveway and side walk
- Put white railing up on the front porch
- Get two flower pots to go on either side of our church pew
- Blow everything out from underneath the car port like the leaves and junk
Take the cabinet thing that was in our house when we bought it to the dump- Take the bench and put it in the shed or inside somewhere (Maybe the office) -- There shouldn't be anything underneath the carport but the garbage can and the grill
Back Yard:
- Fill in the holes that Roscoe dug up with dirt and cover with grass seed
- Pull all the weeds away from the fence
- Pick up the big stones and throw away
- Pick up the wood planks on the far side of the fence and throw them away.
- Dig around the door to Ace's house to that it can be opened and shut
- Get some shavings to put in his dog house
- Fix the latice (sp) work around the shed
So here is our official to-do list! Excited to see how much we are actually able to get done!
